From candidates who passed

“I studied during lunch breaks and after my kids went to bed. The two timed mocks were the closest thing to test day — I walked in knowing exactly what 122 questions feel like.”
Amanda R.
MSW · Passed the Clinical exam, first attempt

“What sold me was the explanations. It doesn't just tell you the right answer — it shows why the other three are traps. That's the whole exam.”
Brittany J.
School social worker · Passed August 2026

“I'd failed once before and froze on every 'first, next, best' question. The Method section fixed that. Second attempt: passed.”
Carmen L.
Hospital social worker · Retake, passed

“The score report told me exactly which areas were weak. I stopped rereading things I already knew and spent two weeks on Assessment instead. It worked.”
Danielle K.
New grad MSW · Passed the Clinical exam
On August 3, 2026, ASWB introduced a new Clinical exam: 122 questions instead of 170, two sections of 61, and three content areas instead of four. Values and Ethics now carries the most weight, at 36% of the exam.
Many prep materials still use 170-question mock exams organized around the old four areas. They can teach you content, but they can't show you the pacing, the balance or the feel of the exam you're about to take.
Most LCSW questions give you two or three options that sound reasonable. The exam is testing whether you can tell which one comes FIRST, which is BEST, and why. That's a skill, and skills are built by practice, not rereading.
Read — each chapter of the guide teaches one topic and the reasoning the exam expects.
Practice — drill the same chapter in the app, with instant feedback.
Review — every explanation shows why the 'almost right' answer is wrong.
Return — your results tell you exactly which chapters to revisit.
Then take the mock exams under real conditions, so test day feels familiar.

Includes the tiebreakers to use when two answers look right, and a test-day strategy for pacing two sections of 61 questions.
Why it's different
